How the Pillar Procedure Works
Most cases of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea are
caused by obstructions and vibrations of the soft
palate at the back of the throat. The Pillar procedure is
a minimally invasive, 20-minute in-office treatment in
which three tiny polyester implants are placed into the
soft palate. The implants, combined with the minor
localized scarring they produce, help stiffen the soft
palate to reduce vibrations and obstructions.
