Comparison of cumulative total return — June 23, 1989(1) to March 31, 2007
The graph below compares the cumulative total stockholder return on Symantec common stock from June 23,
1989 (the date of Symantec’s initial public offering) to March 31, 2007 with the cumulative total return on the S&P
500 Composite Index and the S&P Information Technology Index over the same period (assuming the investment of
$100 in Symantec common stock and in each of the other indices on June 30, 1989, and reinvestment of all
dividends, although no dividends other than stock dividends have been declared on Symantec common stock).
Symantec has provided this additional data to provide the perspective of a longer time period which is consistent
with Symantec’s history as a public company. The comparisons in the graph below are based on historical data and
are not intended to forecast the possible future performance of Symantec common stock.
