Whether it’s a team of volunteers
from the CVS Caremark Customer
Call Center in Knoxville working at
a food pantry or the contributions
we’ve made to needy families on
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,
we’re making a real difference in
the lives of children.
Through the CVS Caremark
Charitable Trust, we’ve made a
fi ve-year, $25 million commitment
to our signature CVS Caremark All
Kids Can™ program. Through All
Kids Can, we support nonprofi t
organizations that focus on helping
children with disabilities learn, play,
and succeed in life. For example,
teams of CVS Caremark colleagues
logged more than 75,000 volunteer
hours across the company in 2008
as they participated in walk teams
for Easter Seals.
By funding Boundless Playgrounds®
,
we’ve helped enable all children
– including those with physical,
developmental, cognitive, and
sensory disabilities – to experience
independent, self-directed play,
each at his or her own highest
level of ability. We helped open
playgrounds in more than a dozen
cities in 2008, with many more
scheduled to open in 2009.
Our efforts didn’t stop there. In our
stores, customers helped us raise
$4 million for ALS research and
$5 million for St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital. On the road,
our CVS Samaritan Van again
assisted more than 50,000 motor-
ists across the country as we
provided free roadside assistance
to commuters in 11 metropolitan
markets. And working together
with the American Red Cross, we
provided nearly $1 million in aid
(in cash and product donations) to
hurricane and fl ood victims in the
Gulf Coast and Midwest.

CVS Caremark has experienced dramatic growth in recent years. With our greater presence
across the United States, the philanthropic activities of the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust
and our colleagues touch more people and communities than ever before. In 2008, we
donated $39 million through a combination of cash, in-kind contributions, and volunteer
hours to worthy causes across the nation.
