Management Report
2014
21
Training expenditure accounted for just under 1% of payroll: 4,405 employees took at least one
training course, i.e. just under 49% of the Group’s average headcount.
Ubisoft also encourages personal learning and has an e-learning policy for technical skills as well as
managerial and behavioral skills: 98 e-learning modules are accessible to all Ubisoft employees via a
Group training portal to ensure their continuous personal development.
Employees who have been with the Group for more than a year receive an annual appraisal, i.e.
79.5% of employees in 2013/2014. The annual appraisal is an important moment in the year for each
employee. Each manager reviews the performance of his or her teams and contributes to the
development of their skills. This appraisal also makes it possible to prepare for the year ahead in
terms of targets and an individual development plan. According to a satisfaction survey carried out in
2013, 73.4% of teams believe that their managers set clear targets.
The Group currently offers numerous possibilities for advancement in France and abroad, within
specific fields and cross-functional roles. During the year under review, 201 international visits took
place, 60% of which were short-term assignments and 34% permanent postings (over 3 years).
International visits take place initially to support business needs, but they also respond to a genuine
objective to support employees’ development by providing them with an international perspective.
These visits encourage multicultural exchanges and contribute to collaborative work.
1.4.2.3.2 Encouraging a collaborative approach within the teams
Collaboration is strongly encouraged at all Group levels within Ubisoft, as demonstrated by the
development of flagship games in multi-site collaborations. A culture of knowledge-sharing is essential
to the performance of the teams. This implies a willingness to improve ways of working, both
individually and collectively, developing knowledge-sharing and exchanging practices.
Ubisoft endeavors to simplify the management of information within the Group, to provide tools used to
facilitate collaboration between teams and to organize events allowing teams to exchange skills.
Ubisoft tries to improve the identification, organization and structure of key information (from creation
to archiving) in order to make it easier to access and share this information within teams. The Group’s
internal sites are grouped together in Ubisoft’s social network, which is developing interactive
collaborative spaces to facilitate the sharing of information between communities. The use of
technologies or applications within the Group, such as instant messaging, web conferencing and the
use of video, simplifies these exchanges.
Networking events are organized several times a year to consolidate the sharing of best practices
within the Group. These are held over several days and take the form of presentations and round
tables, during which experts are invited to discuss various subjects relating to new trends, tools and
good practices to be adopted during game production.
