The following selected financial data is qualified in its entirety
by and should be read in conjunction with the more detailed
consolidated financial statements and related notes included
e l s ew h e re herein. During fiscal 1996, Symantec acquire d
Delrina Corporation (“Delrina”) in a transaction accounted for
as a pooling of interests. All financial information has been
restated to reflect the combined operations of Symantec and
Delrina. Additional acquisitions accounted for as poolings of
i n t e rest include Intec Systems Corporation, Central Point
So f t w a re, Inc. and S L R Systems, Inc. in fiscal 1995, Fi f t h
Generation Systems, Inc. and Contact So f t w a re In t e r n a t i o n a l ,
Inc. during fiscal 1994, Certus International Corporation,
MultiScope, Inc., The W h i t ewater Gro u p , Inc. and Sy m a n t e c
(U K) Ltd. during fiscal 1993, and Zo rtech Ltd., Dynamic
Mi c r o p r ocessor Associates, Inc. and Leonard De velopment Gro u p
in fiscal 1992. The Company has never paid cash dividends on its
stock with the exception of distributions to stockholders of
a c q u i r ed companies.
