Ford Motor Company | 2011 Annual Report 23Ford Motor Company | 2011 Annual Report 23
PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE
Ford volunteers are the face of Ford in the
community, building on the company’s history of caring
and community service, and getting involved in creating
a better world. Projects in dozens of countries in
Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas included a
variety of causes. Some of the projects accomplished
across the globe during this year’s Global Week of
Caring included renovating schools, planting trees
and cleaning up parks by volunteers in South Africa.
Volunteers in China set up a computer lab, sponsored a
school outing and cleaned parks. Volunteers in Kenya
collected clothes and sanitary supplies for impoverished
girls. Ford Germany volunteers donated their time by
mentoring teens, repairing playgrounds and helping the
elderly. Volunteers in Brazil collected food and toiletries,
and repaired nursery and social service offices. Orphans
were provided meals, clothing and medical check-ups in
India. More than a thousand Ford employees in the U.S.
installed playground equipment, distributed food,
repaired schools and restored environmentally sensitive
areas. Volunteers in El Salvador and Honduras built
housing. Beaches and forests were cleaned and repairs
to social institutions were the focus in Spain. Any
location where Ford volunteers joined forces, they
definitely made a world of difference.
A business that
makes nothing but
money is a poor
business.
