20 WAL-MART 2005 ANNUAL REPORT
Billy Main and David Beale
ASDA, West Bridgford, England
Billy was named ASDA’s Shining Star of the year
for spreading sunshine all over the store and,
more particularly, for becoming something of a
guardian angel to one of his store associates,
David Beale. On his own time, Billy helped
David, who at age 56 was unable to read, enroll
in school. He dutifully made sure David got to
school every day so he could learn how to read
and write – skills that have opened new doors
for David in both his work and personal life.
Outside of his job at ASDA, in an effort to clean
up his community, Billy has been known to
jump off the bus to collect abandoned
ASDA shopping carts and bring them
back to the store. We salute asso-
ciates like Billy who are truly
raising the bar for all of us.
