andadministrativefunctions,whicharesharedacrosssegments.
Asoftheendofthefirstquarterof2004,theCompanyhadcommit-
tedtoalloftheinitiativesoriginallycontemplatedundertheThirdQuarter,
2003RestructuringProgram.TheCompanycommittedtotheelimination
ofatotalof5,850positionsundertheThirdQuarter,2003Restructuring
Program.Theremaining25positionstobeeliminatedundertheThird
Quarter,2003RestructuringProgramareexpectedtobecompletedduring
2005.TheCompany’sexpectedcostsavingsasaresultofallactions
contemplatedundertheThirdQuarter,2003RestructuringProgramwere
approximately$275millionin2004,withannualsavingsof$325millionto
$350millionexpectedthereafter.
FirstQuarter,2003RestructuringProgram
Intheearlypartofthefirstquarterof2003,aspartofitscontinuing
focusedcostreductioneffortsandinadditiontotheremaininginitiatives
undertheFourthQuarter,2002RestructuringProgram,theCompanyan-
nounceditsFirstQuarter,2003RestructuringProgramthatincludednew
initiativestofurtherreduceemploymentwithinarangeof1,800to2,200
employees.Asignificantportionofthesenewinitiativesrelatedtothe
rationalizationoftheCompany’sphotofinishingoperationsintheU.S.and
Europe.Specifically,asaresultofdecliningfilmandphotofinishingvolumes
andinresponsetoglobaleconomicandpoliticalconditions,theCompany
begantoimplementinitiativesto:(1)closecertainphotofinishingoperations
intheU.S.andEAMER,(2)rationalizemanufacturingcapacitybyeliminat-
ingmanufacturingpositionsonaworldwidebasisand(3)eliminateselling,
generalandadministrativepositions,particularlyintheD&FISsegment.
