OUR PLAN: BLUEPRINT FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Ford is committed to reducing the environmental
impact of its products and facilities while supporting
positive social change and ensuring economic viability
for long-term growth.
We announced a new plan to cut the amount of
water used to make each vehicle 30 percent globally
by 2015, using the amount of water used per vehicle in
2009 as the baseline. Other initiatives are driven by
efforts to reduce waste and offset the need to produce
new raw material from crude oil – a process that
consumes precious energy and natural resources.
Ford’s electrified vehicle strategy is designed to uniquely
position it in the marketplace with the latest technology
choices to fit customers’ specific needs.
We will be in the right position to provide customers
with the best options to fit their electrified lifestyle. This
is the Power of Choice.
Ford’s plan calls for it to triple production capacity of
its electrified vehicle line-up by 2013 as we build
on our commitment to give customers the Power
of Choice.
In December, production started at Ford’s world-
class Michigan Assembly Plant of the 2012 Focus
Electric, the first five-passenger battery electric vehicle
to achieve a fuel efficiency rating of at least 100 MPGe.
Preparations also began for production of the
all-new Fusion Hybrid, Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid,
C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid. With
the current Focus Electric, Ford Motor Company
anticipates offering a variety of electrified vehicles in
North America by the end of 2012.
