customizedproductsfortheirstores.Also,consumers
continuetoenjoythevarietyofferedbyPringles’steady
streamofnewflavors.
InCoffee,Folgerscontinuestobetheclearmarketleader
intheU.S.,at32%share.Andwithinnovationssuchas
ourHomeCafésingle-servingpodbrewer,weareexpanding
intohigh-valueareasofthecoffeemarketthatoffer
consumersmoreconvenienceandagreatbrew.
Aswelookforward,weknowacombinationofstrong
innovation,rigorouscostcontrols,andpricingtooffset
increasedcommoditycostsisrequiredforcontinued
steady,profitablegrowth.Thenecessityofdelivering
consumer-relevantinnovationatagreatvaluehasnever
beenmoreimportantgivenheightenedpromotional
activitybycompetitorsandtheneedtodistinguishP&G
brandsfromthosethatcompeteonthebasisoflowprice.
Consumerswhoshopatallpricepointshavehighproduct
performanceexpectations.
Wearefocusingonoptimizingourcoststructureand
developinglow-costactivitysystemstosupportthelong-
termhealthofourbrandsandourindustryleadingmargins.
Whiletheseactionswerenotenoughtofullyoffsethigher
commoditycostsin2005,ourcontinuedfocusonthese
criticalfactorswillenableustoreturntosteadyprofit
growthovertimeandemergeevenbetterabletohelp
consumerscreateahometheylove.
