Sales rose 25.4%,
or 1.8% at constant
scope of consolidation
and exchange rates.
T he increase was
primarily attributable
to the consolidation
of Lexel. Spain and
Portugal, and Central Europe
recorded strong growth
again in 1999.

Sales rose 5.3%, or 1.3% at constant scope
of consolidation and exchange rates.
North America: 30% (EUR 2.6 bn)
Supported by the strong residential construction market,
sales rose 12.7%, or 6.6% at constant scope
of consolidation and exchange rates.
International: 17% (EUR 1.4 bn)
Sales declined 6.8% from 1998, impacted by the decline
in high voltage business. Excluding high voltage, all
regions recorded growth except for South America,
where sales were hurt by the monetary crisis in Brazil.
The balanced geographic spread of our sales is a key strength.
