Schneider Electric’s core businesses
Our ISO 14001 certification program is continuing
in the United States. Schneider Electric’s goal is to obtain
certification for all of its sites by 2002.
Square D/Telemecanique TeSys
The new TeSys family enhances the entire set of
all-or-nothing” motor-starter applications up to 75kW
and strengthens Telemecanique’s world leadership in this
field. It provides continuity for the highly popular D Series
while offering customers original, distinctive and innovative
features. Our specially developed Quickfit technology
ensures simple assembly and cabling without wires or tools,
making for greater productivity and safety. In addition,
products with 24-volt DC controls are far easier to integrate
with programmable logic controllers in automation systems
thanks to their performance and field-bus connectivity.
Telemecanique Zelio Logic
This programmable logic module is designed for small auto-
mation systems (fewer than 20 I/Os) in the manufacturing,
commercial and residential sectors. Zelio Logic is suitable
for such applications as parts counting, conveyor belts,
escalators, lighting systems and parking space manage-
ment, automatic doors, access control and display board
management. Compact, flexible and easy to use, this effi-
cient module is a competitive alternative to solutions based
on hard-wired logic designs or dedicated boards.
Square D/Telemecanique Altivar 28
The latest in the Series 8 range of speed drives covers
the 0.37-15kW range. Its many attractive features
include an intuitive “plug & drive” design, with factory
presettings and automatic adjustment to the motor.
Although factory-fitted with an EMC filter, Altivar 28 is
highly compact and connects easily to existing systems.
Fully fitted versions ensure effortless installation. Ideal for
designing simple machinery, Altivar 28 meets the needs
of many industries, including food processing, textiles,
wood, paper, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals,
as well as of commercial and office buildings.
Respecting
the environment
Environmental management aims at continuous
improvements, and is incorporated into the
development process.To assess the environmental
impact of its products throughout their entire life
cycle, Schneider Electric uses high-performance
tools such as the Environmental Information
and Management Explorer (EIME).
T his decision-support software models
a products environmental impact and helps
developers choose appropriate materials
and design principles. EIME was used to
develop our new Harmony and Masterpact ranges.
Outlook
Twelve Schneider Electric product families
will be renewed in 2000, 60% of them
in electrical distribution and 40% in industrial
control and automation.
Environment
Environmental impact is taken into account
at the design stage at all of Schneider
Electric’s production facilities.
Two-thirds of our sites are certified
to ISO 14001 standards.
