China
Baosteel
T he Chinese steelmaker, BaoShan Iron & Steel
Corporation, has selected Schneider Electric
products and equipment for its new metallurgical
plant in Shanghai, which will be one of the most
automated plants in the country. The Schneider
Electric supply includes electrical distribution
products (in particular, Merlin Gerin Masterpact,
Compact NS and C45 circuit-breakers), industrial
control products (Telemecanique contactors
and push-buttons) and automation products such
as the Modicon / Telemecanique Quantum
and Momentum PLC platforms.
Denmark
The Royal Library of Copenhagen
Located near Copenhagen harbor, the newly-built
Royal Library-commonly known as the “Black
Diamond- is one of the most talked about
and architecturally interesting projects in Denmark
in recent years. It is also the biggest Lexel IHC-
BUSlink installation today, including a total
of 35 IHC®Controllers.T he Lexel IHC
systems market-leading presence and user-friendly,
intelligent features were among the advantages that
got the product selected for this prestigious project.
Canada
The Lafarge cement plant
T he Lafarge plant in Richmond, British Columbia
produces 500,000 metric tons of cement per year.
T he company decided to double its production
capacity by using adry” process that requires
half as much energy as the previously used wet”
process.To manage this complex process
on a widely spread - out site, Lafarge selected
Modicon/Telemecanique Quantum programmable
logic controllers with a Modbus+ network, Concept
software, and Square D model 6 motor starters
fitted with LT 6 relays.T his solution made it possible
to meet the new installations startup deadlines
and offered numerous advantages such
as modularity, access to information and easy
operation and maintenance.
Spain
World Trade Center
T he World Trade Center is a 135,000 m2business
center located in Barcelona's port area. It includes
40,000 m2of office space, a 430-seat auditorium
and 30 video-conference and meeting rooms.
Schneider Electric supplied the center's electrical
distribution equipment.The office lighting
is managed by a Telemecanique K-System solution
that provides energy savings of up to 30%.
