Syria
PEEGT
In order to strengthen the Damas electrical supply
system, PEEGT, Syria's national electric company
has selected Schneider Electric to supply
sub-stations and transformers in three voltage levels
(230 kV, 66 kV and 20 kV).
T he fact that Schneider Electric had already supplied
equipment in Syria, particularly the substations for
the power stations in Jandar and Alep, was one
deciding factor, as well as the excellent quality/price
ratio and the observance of lead times.
Argentina
Aluar Pechiney
Aluar, a primary aluminum manufacturer, has
signed two major contracts with Schneider Electric
to modernize its Puerto Madryn production plant.
One contract concerns the supply of the electrical
equipment that is necessary to upgrade 400 tanks
in the plant's electrolysis section and implement
the technical management functions using DEC
Alpha calculators.T he other contract, as part
of a consortium with Cegelec, involves the installa-
tion of automated control systems for a line of 144
new tanks and the technical management of the series.
Schneider Electric is also supplying MV cubicles,
MV/LV transformers and substation capacitors.
United Kingdom
Jaguar
Jaguar selected Schneider Electric to be its single
preferred partner in 1996. At the carmakers
Birmingham plant, the new production lines for
the S-Type luxury sedan (60,000 vehicles a year)
were equipped with automation devices,
such as Modicon/Telemecanique Quantum PLCs,
and Square D electrical distribution products.
Jaguar also turned to Schneider Electric to equip
the production lines for its latest model, the X400.
Saudi Arabia
Kingdom Centre
T he Kingdom Centre in Riyadh is scheduled
to open in 2001. At 300 meters, it will be the highest
skyscraper in the Middle East. T he tower will include
a luxury hotel, a business center and a shopping
center. Schneider Electric was selected to supply
all of the medium and low voltage electrical
distribution equipment for this exceptional
architectural project, which requires optimal
equipment safety and reliability.
