Global reach
38
United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom, seven factories are
dedicated to the production of medium and low
voltage equipment. All sites are ISO 9001/9002
and 14001 certified.
T he Leeds site, which employs 520 people,
is dedicated to the production of medium voltage
equipment such as Merlin Gerin Ringmaster,
Genie,Talus.
T he implementation of Schneider 2000+ has
allowed significant progress, notably in terms
of product availability. By the end of 1999,
lead times for the Ringmaster range had been
reduced from 12 weeks to 4 weeks.
Argentina
T he 10,000 m2plant in San Martin, near Buenos
Aires, has been operational since the end of 1998.
It handles manufacturing, services, projects
and the regional distribution center for Schneider
Electric in Argentina.
T he San Martin plant manufactures Merlin
Gerin C60 LV circuit breakers that are exported
to all Mercosur countries and to Chile. It is one
of the five Schneider Electric manufacturing units
in the world and the first plant outside Europe to
manufacture this type of products.
T he plant also produces MV/LV equipment such
as Merlin Gerin SM6 and MCSet cubicles
and Merlin Gerin Blokset LV switchboards.
T he San Martin plant employs 100 people
and expects to double the number of employees
by the end of 2000 with the development
of its LV activity.
Mexico
T he Schneider Electric subsidiary in Mexico,
with 2000 employees, is the market leader
in electrical distribution and industrial control.
Among the two Schneider Electric Mexico
operational production sites, the Rojo Gomez
plant in Mexico City, with 900 employees,
specializes in the production of Square D
and Federal Pacific low and medium voltage
distribution equipment and Square D
and Telemecanique control equipment.
T he site also houses a distribution center
and the subsidiary's head office.
All the Schneider Electric production sites in Mexico
and the distribution center are ISO-certified.
Confidence in the quality of products manufactured
in Mexico is rising strongly. As a result,
the Mexican production sites serve the local market,
as well as neighboring countries, particularly
the United States.
