Egypt
The Library of Alexandria
Built in the third century B.C. under Alexander
the Great's rule, and destroyed by a fire some six
centuries later, the Library of Alexandria was once
the most important cultural center of its time.
Within the scope of the current library renovation
program, partly financed by UNESCO, Schneider
Electric has supplied all of the electrical distribution
equipment for the avant-garde building that will
house the collection. The contract included MV
incomer switchboards, LV distribution switchboards,
lighting panels, MV/LV transformers and associated
engineering studies.
Brazil
Intelig
Intelig, a new private telecommunications company
in Brazil, selected Schneider Electric to supply
the electrical distribution equipment for approximately
40 relay centers across the country. To meet the needs
of a quickly expanding market, Intelig was looking
for a high level of reliability in energy availability,
a guarantee of service continuity and very compact
equipment. The company therefore selected SM6
medium-voltage cubicles and Blokset low-voltage
switchboards, equipped with Merlin Gerin
circuit breakers and Telemecanique contactors.
Australia
CityLink Project
T he CityLink project launched by the government
of Victoria has been an ambitious roads infrastructure
operation that involved the construction of 22 km
of freeway, tolling stations and two new road tunnels.
Working with the Transfield construction company,
Schneider Electric obtained the contract for
the design of the electrical system and the supply
of low and medium voltage switchgear,
transformers, UPS systems, capacitor banks
and the complete plant monitoring and control
system. Schneider Electric Australia produced
4,000 design drawings, 20 technical specifications
and 11 sets of cable management schedules
for the project.
