Sony Corporation Annual Report 1999
The latest additions to
Sony’s car audio system
lineup, this stereo
power amplifier and
speaker set produce
superb sound quality.
This new IC recorder with
an ultra-thin chassis can
record continuously for up
to 150 minutes. When the
separately sold dedi-
cated PC connection
kit is used, vast
amounts of audio
data can be trans-
ferred to a PC.
In addition to a 5-disc MD changer and 5-disc CD changer, this MD
personal component stereo system features the Direct Touch Editor
function, making recording from CD to MD simple.
A new DVD-Video player designed with an
emphasis on high quality and reliability.
A new digital still camera with Sony’s
own 2.11 million-pixel CCD and a
Carl Zeiss lens. Not only can high-
resolution still images be
stored on the Memory
Stick IC recording me-
dium, but the MPEG
Movie function also al-
lows recording of moving
video images and sounds.
A broadcast- and professional-use Betacam SX VTR
introduced in the fall of 1998.
The first Super Audio CD player is scheduled to be launched in Japan
in May 1999. The Super Audio CD is a next generation audio format
which achieves the ultimate in faithful sound reproduction.
This MD Walkman (above)
with recording/editing capa-
bility is small enough to fit
in a shirt pocket. This play-
back-only model (below) has
a backlit stick-type control-
ler, enabling easy operation
in a dark environment. It also
measures no larger than the
jacket of an MD.
