Sony Corporation Annual Report 1999
This model integrates both DV digital and S-VHS video formats in a
single deck. An i.LINK-compatible DV terminal on it allows for easy
connection to digital camcorders or PCs that are i.LINK-ready.
This LCD projection TV can reproduce sharply
defined, clear images by incorporating Sony’s own
Digital Reality Creation, a high quality image
creation digital technology, in addition to a high-
resolution LCD and a newly designed lens.
This portable CD-R
drive, a mere 15mm in
thickness and weighing
only 195 grams, is
capable of quad speed
(4x) max recording.
Prototypes of the GMR
(giant magneto resis-
tive) head for hard
disk drives developed
by Sony.
This new computer display, employing an
18.1-inch TFT LCD panel, was introduced
in April 1999. Sony’s original image-
processing technology produces high
quality images.
This magneto-optical (MO) disk is designed for
the GIGAMO 3.5-inch MO disk system, newly
developed by Sony and Fujitsu Limited. This
medium can store up to 1.3GB of data, which is
twice as much as conventional MOs.
Sporting a built-in CCD
video camera, Sony’s
compact-size VAIO
notebook PC enables
recording of both still
and moving video im-
ages. Captured images
can easily be sent
through e-mail.
Sony’s cdmaOneTM digital cellular
phone, offered in Japan, has been
praised for its excellent sound
quality.
This digital satellite
broadcast reception
system, for Japan’s SKY
PerfecTV!, to be launched
by Sony in May 1999 is
capable of handling new
interactive broadcasting
services as well as con-
ventional digital satellite
broadcasts.
