Our customers.
We want our customers to think of American Express as an important part of
their lives. We work hard to earn their loyalty and build lasting relationships.
In 2004, we continued to invest heavily in new products, expanded our
rewards and loyalty programs, and strengthened our servicing capabilities to
better meet the needs of our customers. The results: nearly 5 million new
cards-in-force, record spending of more than $416 billion on American
Express cards, a wide lead over our competitors in average spending per
card, and higher client assets at American Express Financial Advisors and
American Express Bank.
