The developments of the past year have made one thing perfectly clear: the global economy will emerge
transformed from the current crisis. First, there will be a shift in the worldwide balance of economic pow-
er, with the BRIC countries and the Middle East gaining in importance. Second, governments will play a
bigger role in the economic arena – in the area of infrastructure, in particular. And third, the overall ap-
proach to economic activity will be realigned. The final communiqué issued by the participants in the G
summit in April  identifies sustainability as a major focus of business activity and calls for a balance
among three key areas – environmental concerns, economic issues and social responsibility. These enor-
mous changes worldwide will also have an impact on our day-to-day business.
We take these developments seriously and are intent on exploiting them as an opportunity for profit-
