was the case at the Ordinary General Shareholders’ Meeting held in 2014. In April 2015, with the aim of
enhancing operational oversight and further increasing the speed of decision-making and execution of operations,
the responsibility for executive vice presidents was changed to making decisions regarding management from a
medium to long-term perspective and supervising execution of operations, with executives at senior managing
officer level and below now responsible for execution of operations, such as business units, regional operations
and key functions. Furthermore, in April 2016, Toyota established seven product-based in-house companies to
transition to a corporate organization that promotes the development of “ever-better cars” through the integration
of processes from R&D to manufacturing. In addition, at the 111th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders
held in June 2015, the first non-Japanese executive vice president was appointed in order to promote diversity.
