How we work.
Verizon is anetworkcompany, in humanas well astechnological terms.In fact,
withourdirectrelationshipswithmillionsofcustomers,we’redifferentfromother
companiesintheInterneteconomy.
Ourrelationshiptocustomersisn’tjustvirtual,it’sreal.Ourcustomersdon’t
relatetousjustthroughtheclickofamouse.Theycomeintoourstores.Theysee
our trucks. They talk to our service reps. They invite our technicians into their
homes.Theyknowthat–withmorethan240,000employeesincommunitiesall
overthecountryandtheworld–wehaveavestedinterestingoodschools,safe
neighborhoodsandstronglocaleconomies.
That’swhythehumandimensionofbusiness–customerservice,ethics,values,
reputationandcommunityinvestment–issodeeplyembeddedinourcultureand
soprofoundlyimportanttooursuccess.Ourpeoplehaveastrongrecordofgiving
backtocommunitiesthroughmatchinggifts,volunteerhoursandotheractivities,

than8millionhoursoftrainingand$110millionintuitionassistancein2006to
equipouremployeestodeploynewtechnologiesandaddresstheneedsofsophisti-
