Employer contributions expected to be paid to the principal
funded pension plans during fiscal  are €, therein €
to the domestic pension plans and € to the foreign pension
plans.
The item Employer contributions in fiscal , in the table
above, includes supplemental employer contributions in the
U.K. The amount of €() in line item Settlements in fiscal 
is due to the partial settlement of pension plans in Canada. In
fiscal , the Company merged some pension schemes in
the U.S., originating from the acquisition of the Dade Behring
business in fiscal  with its principal pension plans. Ac-
cordingly, the DBO and plan assets of the plans reported in the
preceding two tables increased by € and €. Such
amounts are included in the items Amendments and other and
Acquisitions and other.
