Although still new, Sony’s IPTV service
offers tremendous potential as a new digital
content distribution format. Sony will strive
to further develop its IPTV service business
by emphasizing the unique advantages of
both its hardware and content.
Already popular for downloading music,
fi lms and other content, online services are
also rapidly becoming a major part of the
gaming market.
PLAYSTATION®Network delivers a wide
variety of functions and services to on-line
users. One of these is PLAYSTATION®Store,
an online store selling and distributing
game titles for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) and
PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), as well as vir-
tual items for use in games, and video
content. PLAYSTATION®Network also offers
online games and AV chat features. Indicative
of its growing popularity, PLAYSTATION®
