Sony Pictures Television International
(SPTI) has established a leading position
among Hollywood studios in the international
distribution of current and classic fi lms and
television programs in all media, as well as
in the production of local language television
programming. The division also has a port-
folio of nearly 50 cable and satellite television
networks in Europe, Asia, Latin America, the
Rescue Me and Damages. SPT also produced
several made-for-television movies, including
A Raisin in the Sun for ABC, and launched
The Minisode Network, which airs four-to-six
minute versions of popular television shows
over the Internet and via mobile devices.
Sony Pictures Imageworks Inc. is a leader
in the fi eld of digital animation. The company
Middle East and Africa. SPTI is expanding
its international network business, and
currently broadcasts in 21 languages into
more than 130 countries reaching some 375
million households.
Sony Pictures Television (SPT) makes the
Studio’s considerable entertainment library
available for broadcast, cable and digital
distribution across all platforms. The library
encompasses more than 3,500 fi lms and
150,000 episodes of more than 500 television
series, including Seinfeld.
SPT continues to have the No.1 and No.2
daytime television dramas (The Young and
the Restless and Days of Our Lives), as well
the No.1 and No.2 syndicated game shows
(Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!) in the
United States.4 During the fi scal year ended
March 31, 2008, SPT produced a number of
series for U.S. broadcast and cable networks,
including ‘til Death, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT,

distribution of digital entertainment, from the creation of world-class visual effects
for motion pictures to the development of content for the Internet, mobile phones

Spider-Man 3.
Sony Pictures Animation (SPA) is involved
in the creation of CGI animated features from
planning to production. SPAs critically
acclaimed full-length feature, Surf’s Up,
received an Academy Award® nomination for
Best Animated Feature in 2008. SPA is
currently producing its next animated fi lm,
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and a
direct-to-video sequel to its 2006 feature
lm, Open Season.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
(SPHE) is a worldwide leader in the sale and
distribution of home entertainment content
on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. SPHE was one of
the fi rst to bring Blu-ray Disc to the world-
wide market. Over the past year, SPHE has
continued to create consumer excitement
with the release of hit titles on Blu-ray. Since
the inception of the Blu-ray format in North
America in June 2006, SPHE has released
more than 110 titles and maintains a market
share in excess of 20 percent.5
This achievement provided a vital contri-
bution to SPHE’s overall business in calen-
dar year 2007, which enjoyed a 16 percent
increase in the year-over-year retail value
of consumer sales, primarily driven by
blockbuster titles such as Casino Royale,
Spider-Man 3 and Superbad.
Of the major studios, for the calendar year
2007, SPHE realized the highest year-on-
year increase in overall unit sales and catalog
performance.6
