In the warehouse On the road
In the eldIn the kitchen
With a goal to reduce operational costs $300350 million annually by
scal 2015, we are working to optimize productivity in all of our Broadline
facilities. Already technically advanced models of efciency, each
operating company is participating in a major initiative to standardize
best practices across the organization.
In scal 2012, we completed the installation of Sysco Transportation System,
or STS. This new technology scans each case as it is delivered to customers,
improving customer service, reducing errors and making deliveries more
efcient. Productivity strategies also focus on inbound shipments from
suppliers where the company is leveraging efciencies across the enterprise
via increased load utilization, optimal mode selection, alternative fuels and
efcient routing.
More restaurants today seek to differentiate their menus and support their
community by offering locally sourced products. Were growing our business
bynding ways to respond. Nearly 50 of our Broadline operating companies
have programs to aggregate produce from local farms so they can be
efciently and cost effectively integrated into Sysco’s distribution system –
amodel we are working to expand.
At Sysco, we understand how important efciency is in our own business,
so we help our customers gain similar benets in their businesses. Our
seasoned team of Business Review professionals offer customers numer-
ous tools to increase efciencies, including menu and protability analysis,
cost-effective product selection and food safety training. Our customers
also benet from our years of experience in efcient back-of-the-house
processes such as inventory management and efcient kitchen lines,
helping to ensure a great experience for their customers.
