The releases of surplus in 2006, 2005 and 2004 were primarily
attributable to reduced severance due to a transfer of employees
who were originally expected to be laid off to other positions within
Philips. In 2004, the release was partly attributable to tools and
equipment sold, which was originally not anticipated in the plan.
The Company expects to make maximum cash expenditures of EUR
92 million in the next two years under restructuring programs that
existed at December 31, 2006.
