Driving sustainability in the supply
chain
We are committed to partnering with governmental
and civil society organizations and business partners to
further embed sustainability in the supply chain.
As a responsible corporate citizen, we strive to conduct
our business with a high level of integrity. And, in keeping
with our brand values, we also support our suppliers to
help them achieve higher standards. To this end, we
actively seek dialog with industry partners, civil society
and governmental organizations, and we are an active
member of a number of initiatives implementing
sustainability programs.
For example, we are a member of the Electronic Industry
Citizenship Coalition (EICC), an important sustainability
alliance for the electronics industry. The EICC was
established in 2004 and promotes an industry code of
conduct for global supply chains to improve working and
environmental conditions. Today, it includes more than
50 global electronics companies and their suppliers.
Another initiative in which we are involved is the Dutch
Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH). IDH brings together
government, frontrunner companies, civil society
organizations and labor unions. The mission of IDH is to
accelerate and up-scale sustainable trade in mainstream
commodity markets from the emerging countries to
Western Europe. In this way, IDH is working on the
Millennium Development Goals for poverty reduction,
environmental protection and an open trading and
financial system.
